The new year is a fresh start for your beauty routine. It’s time to shake things up, starting with your hair color. Before you pull a Kardashian and tint your strands a pastel hue, check out what Pierre Michel Salon colorist Joanna Pinto Delgado has to say about this season’s hautest hair color trends.
“Neutral babylights are definitely in. This a technique I personally love because It creates dimension in the hair yet very natural looking and low maintenance in terms of upkeep. I personally love to combine this technique with a little balayage on the ends for extra brightness.”
“Inky Black is a beautiful hair color because of how smooth and shiny it makes the hair. The immense shine reflected off this color is like no other, but once a client is over it and wants to go lighter it is definitely a process and a nightmare for both the client and the colorist. It can take several sessions to remove. So definitely think twice before going inky black. If you are a person that loves to change their hair color constantly this is not a look for you.”
“All over copper tones are beautiful tones but not everyone can carry this look. If you have an Olive complexion or a little bit of yellow in your skin this is definitely a flattering color for you. Remember that there are also different shades of copper from fiery copper to soft coppery tones like strawberry. It is important to talk with your colorist to see what shade flatters you best.”
“Snow bunny blonde is a cool toned blonde. It is achieved by doing a pale highlight and infusing powdery ash tones. This hair color is ideal on a client that is naturally light (a dark blonde). A good way to see if you are a candidate is by looking at your baby pictures. If you naturally had those blonde tones in your hair especially in the summer, it shouldn’t be a problem for your hair colorist to get you there. If you are darker then a dark blonde (level7 base) it is doable as well. Just takes more time and can affect the integrity of the hair because of the extra levels of lift required to get to this shade.”
“Negative space hair color is the color trend of 2019. It is the most natural form of hair color you can ask for. This technique focuses on a lighter more defined hairline with a little bit of balayage meticulously painted in the surface area. Colorists have to keep in mind that less is more when doing this technique. Because of how natural looking this technique is clients can go months before touching this up.”
